Your everyday workflow, connected.

The whole picture

Built around the work you do every day.

Designed for

  • Diagnostic laboratories
  • Collection and processing teams
  • Lab supervisors and reviewers
  • Reagent and billing staff

Group tests into patient orders, schedule collection and follow samples through processing, rejection or recollection. Use structured result entry, reference ranges and review workflows, with equipment quality-control records, external lab referrals and reagent purchasing in the same workspace.

Smart Laboratory is built around the link between a patient order, its samples and the results eventually released. Collection, processing and review are separate responsibilities, but each needs the same test and patient context. The workspace also keeps external lab work, equipment quality-control records and reagent purchasing visible to the operating team, with billing connected to the order rather than a separate register.

Trace the sample journey

Keep collection, processing and exception records attached to the patient’s requested tests.

A defined review step

Separate result entry from authorised review and release through the report approval workflow.

Operational details in view

Follow reagents, external lab work and QC records alongside the tests moving through the lab.

A closer look at the records, decisions and team handoffs behind each part of the solution.

01

Patient orders and test panels

Group the patient’s requested tests into an order with the billing context attached. Test panels and the catalogue give reception and lab staff a consistent starting point for the work requested.

  • Multi-test orders
  • Test panels and catalogue
  • Patient-linked billing
02

Collection and sample tracking

Schedule collection and follow the sample through the operating workflow. Rejection and recollection records keep exceptions visible instead of silently replacing the original collection attempt.

  • Collection appointments
  • Sample tracking
  • Rejection and recollection
03

Structured results and reference ranges

Record results against the relevant tests and parameters. The result-entry workflow retains the reference-range context needed by authorised reviewers and the patient report.

  • Structured result entry
  • Test parameters
  • Reference-range records
04

Review and report approval

Keep result entry and report release as defined steps rather than the same unchecked action. Two-level review and approval provide a workflow for the staff authorised to verify and release results.

  • Result review
  • Two-level approval
  • Patient report release
05

Equipment quality control

Record quality-control runs against laboratory equipment and analytes. Supervisors can review the recorded measurements and QC status as part of the lab’s own quality-control process.

  • Equipment records
  • QC run measurements
  • Supervisor review context
06

External work and reagents

Track work sent to external laboratories and keep reagent purchasing and stock visibility close to the lab operation. Dashboards retain the order and turnaround context for the work being followed.

  • External lab referrals
  • Reagent purchasing and stock
  • Turnaround dashboards

Included at a glance

  • Multi-test orders and patient-linked billing
  • Collection appointments and sample tracking
  • Sample rejection and recollection workflows
  • Test panels, reference ranges and result entry
  • Two-level result review and approval
  • Equipment and quality-control run records
  • External lab referral tracking
  • Reagent purchasing and stock visibility
  • Patient reports and turnaround dashboards

The everyday journey

From the first step to the final handoff.

Follow a typical transaction through the teams that keep it moving.

  1. 01

Register the patient and order tests

Reception registers the patient and creates the multi-test order. The test catalogue and billing context stay with the request as the work moves toward collection.

  2. 02

    Collect, label and track samples

The collection team follows the appointment and records the sample. Any rejected sample or recollection follows an explicit exception path rather than being lost outside the order.

  3. 03

Enter results and complete the review

Processing staff enter results against the test parameters and reference ranges. The review team follows the approval steps before results are treated as ready for release.

  4. 04

    Release reports and settle billing

Authorised staff release the patient report and complete the billing workflow. The team can review the order’s processing and turnaround context alongside any external work or reagent requirements.

Where it fits

See it in
an everyday moment.

Illustrative scenarios showing how the capabilities work together.

A panel with several tests

Reception creates one order for a patient’s test panel. Collection records the sample, processing staff enter the requested results and the reviewers follow the approval workflow before the combined report is released.

A sample needing recollection

A collection cannot proceed through the normal processing path. Staff record the rejection and organise recollection with the original patient and test context still available, rather than opening an unrelated paper request.

Prepare your workspace

Start with the right foundations.

Bring these details to the implementation discussion so the setup reflects your actual operation.

  • Test catalogue, panels, parameters and reference ranges
  • Collection appointments and sample-handling responsibilities
  • Reviewer roles, report formats and approval workflow
  • Equipment, reagent stock and billing requirements

More specific questions?
Talk to our team ↗

Can multiple tests be grouped for a patient?

Yes. Multi-test orders and test panels are included, with billing connected to the patient’s order.

What happens when a sample is rejected?

The source includes sample rejection and recollection workflows. Staff retain the patient and test context while recording the exception and following the required collection steps.

Does the software approve clinical results by itself?

No. Result entry, reviewer roles and report approval organise the lab’s workflow. Qualified staff carry out the lab’s review and release process; equipment QC records support that operational process rather than replacing it.

Can the setup reflect our existing workflow?

Yes. The implementation discussion starts with your records, team responsibilities and approval steps. We agree the configuration and any changes before rollout, then walk through a representative transaction with the people who will use the system.

How do we confirm the scope before getting started?

Book a demonstration and bring examples of your current forms or operating process. We will distinguish the listed capabilities from separately scoped additions, confirm the data and device requirements, and prepare a proposal for your agreed implementation.
